CJ staff in 2019 attend the first How Language Works session
CJ staff have embarked on a whole school initiative to complete the How Language Works (HLW) course. This whole campus approach to improve students understanding of literacy and learning is described as an ‘innovative professional development program for educators seeking to extend their understandings about language and literacy.’
Late last year, four CJ teachers attended an intensive 5-day course to become tutors of the course. The training was conducted by international consultant in language and literacy, Brian Dare, from Lexis Education; all teachers thoroughly enjoyed Brian’s informative and engaging classes.
The graduates from Brian’s delivery of the course are now training the rest of the staff. Training began before the arrival of students this year, so teachers could utilise their new knowledge and skills. The teacher training will continue throughout 2019 and 2020.
