Professor Angela Hill joined Edith Cowan University in May 2017. Her portfolio responsibilities include the Centre for Learning and Teaching, the Library Services Centre, and the Directorate of Student Life. Professor Hill has key responsibilities for ECU’s technology enhanced learning strategy, academic governance and TEQSA regulatory activities.
The Deputy-Vice-Chancellor (Education) is a member of the University Executive and Chair of Education Committee.
Professor Hill’s research interests relate to practice-based learning including service learning, higher education policy and academics’ work. She has led research grants in access and equity in education including pedagogies and policies of inclusion, generating over 1 million dollars in research income.
Professor Hill’s academic work focuses on teacher and professional education and she has a long history of active engagement in the VET sector and cross sectoral educational initiatives, including serving on a range of not- for-profit boards. Professor Hill completed her doctoral studies at RMIT, and has lived and worked in a range of locations including Canberra, Sydney, Newcastle, Central America and rural NSW.
Before joining ECU, she held the role of Dean, Learning, Teaching and Student Engagement at James Cook University, Townsville where she developed a range of programs to support widening participation, retention and student engagement. In 2008 she was awarded an Australian Learning and Teaching Council citation that recognised innovative curriculum design for work integrated learning. She has an abiding interest in social justice as a framework for educational practice.
